Morning everyone. So, this is my reading of events. Tell me what you thinkโฆ
Two middle-aged blokes - Andy Burnham and Keir Starmer - are presently enjoying weekend mini-breaks with their families while Westminster ties itself in knots over whether one of them could be our seventh Prime Minister in 10 years.
Team Burnham are already anticipating measuring the curtains in Downing Street, but what does yet another leadership tussle say about Britain to our allies across the Channel and across the Pond? And somewhere even further afield, is the Bear quietly raising a vodka shot at the upheaval?
I heard an Italian journalist this week musing that it used to be his country that was the byword for unstable politics. Times change. He also noted that England footballers have been known to celebrate before the cup is lifted. Just sayinโ.
Closer to home, did the near 25,000 people of Makerfield who voted for Andy Burnham expect him to be unpacking boxes in Number 10 by teatime next Friday?
And should a handful of politicians really be deciding our next Prime Minister? We tried something similar with Liz Truss. Look how that worked out. That honeymoon barely lasted long enough to get the wedding photos back from the printers.
Political honeymoons can appear all sunshine and roses in the brochure, but they donโt always make for happy marriages. And when they end badly, itโs the family, in this case, us that pays the price.
Lots of questions. What do you think?
This is powerful!!
The video strikingly illustrates the game of misinformation thatโs being played by Nigel Farage & others. It shows whoโs actually benefiting from it.
Absolutely worth watching!
