Es curioso lo fácil que es notar cuando alguien no ha leído Absolute o no lo entendió. Muchos lo pintan como un universo “oscuro por oscuro”, cuando en realidad su propósito es otro: mostrar que héroes como Wonder Woman, Superman y Batman mantienen su esencia pese al caos....

I do find it interesting that as much as Grant Morrison is considered a champion of silver age Superman, his most definitive Superman work does away with the silver age’s biggest identifiers such as Superboy and the Clark Lex friendship in favor of Byrne inclusion. Mind you he’s also expressed in other interviews that he doesn’t particularly enjoy those comics as he believes they take away a lot of the fun fantastical elements of the character, yet he included them in his own Superman to build what he believed was most ideal for him.

He fully believes in the Mythic Man approach, making Clark a seemingly normal farm boy who evolves into the Super (both through maturity and a lifetime soaking up solar radiation) overtime with all of his adult conflicts extrapolated in fantastical allegory.

I’m not saying it’s the best version of his origin, but it arguably is the best way to streamline the character for a modern audience while also giving each era fan a slice of their pie. I quite like it.
