Yesterday, I delivered a lecture to officers at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi. The officers are attending a two months Advanced Joint Senior Political Education and Leadership Development Course Intake 15/25 for Uganda Peoples Defence Forces, @PoliceUg, ISO, ESO, Wazalendo Sacco, NEC and Uganda @UgandaPrisons Officers *on the topic ���Inter-forces cooperation towards sustaining peace and security*
While addressing the officers, I highlighted the importance of inter-forces cooperation in maintaining peace and security. Information sharing, joint operations, coordinated strategies, and mutual support and key to achieving peace and stability.
By working together, security forces can more effectively address security threats and promote stability.
Yesterday, together with a team of senior officers from the Directorate of Chief Political Commissariat, we completed our three-day rectification campaign and ideological orientation tour in the Greater Bushenyi where I urged police officers to know their responsibilities for an effective service delivery to the public.
I said to them that the most important thing is to improve the relationship between the people and the Force but also redeem the Force’s image, the human rights position, and also make sure there is zero tolerance to corruption. As @PoliceUg, we don't tolerate any corruption tendencies. Therefore, if we are to bring the community closer to police, issues such corruption, and bribery must be avoided so that there's trust from community members in the police.
I also called upon officers to have team work, adding that there is no way they can deliver services without teamwork.
Finally, I implored the officers to ensure that there's full implementation of the sub-county policing model and other government development campaign programmes like the Parish Development Model, among others.
This afternoon, I launched a newly constructed Wakisi Sub-County police station in Njeru Division, Buikwe district, a project realized through partnership between Police and the local community.
This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing security service delivery, fostering public trust and strengthening community policing at the grassroots level. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to safety and pro-active law enforcement.
In attendance were Hon Diana Mutasingwa, the Minister of state in the office of the vice president, Brig Gen Kanyesigye Emmanuel, the RDCs, Regional police commanders of Kiira and Sezibwa and the local leaders.
Today, I held a meeting with the command and staff of Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), Mt Moroto and Kidepo regions at Hotel Africana in Moroto on enhancing field cordination in the Karamoja sub region.
I emphasised the importance of vigilance, discipline, timely intellegence sharing and carrying out joint operations.
I urged full implementation of the sub county Policing model and early preparation for the party primaries and the 2026 general elections.

Concerns have been raised across various media platforms, including
the New Vision publication of April 10, 2025, regarding missing salaries for some police officers. Uganda Police Force wishes to clarify Police officers are regularly paid their salaries at the end of each month.
However, there are isolated cases of salary delays affecting individual officers due to circumstances that vary from individual officer to another.
The police in Busoga East Region, Uganda, have apprehended two suspects, Mugweri Paul and Okoi Joseph, for stealing coffee from Bulenzi Dasan's garden in Bango village, Bugiri district.
Bulenzi Dasan discovered his coffee had been harvested and stolen from his garden and reported the incident to the Budhaya police station, who deployed their K9 sniffer dog Monica.
Monica picked up the scent and tracked the suspects for approximately 1km, leading officers to Mugweri Paul's home.
Mugweri Paul was arrested and revealed he sold the coffee to Okoi Joseph. The stolen coffee was recovered from Okoi's home, who admitted to buying it from Mugweri.
The two suspects are currently in detention to assist with further investigations.

The Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, has today launched the construction of 1,200 police housing apartments at Naguru barracks in Kampala.
The project, expected to be completed within 12 months, aims to provide decent accommodation to police officers and their families.
IGP Byakagaba emphasized the importance of timely delivery, urging the construction team to work efficiently.
The project is being handled by the Police Construction Unit under the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering.
"This initiative is a significant step towards improving the welfare of police officers and their families. Together with the police's top leadership, we are focused on enhancing the overall well-being of the police force, and this project is one of those testaments to that commitment," said IGP Abas Byakagaba.

AIGP James Apora has assured the success and timely completion of the police housing project. He has assigned a team of dedicated engineers to oversee the construction, ensuring that the project meets its deadline and is completed to the desired standards.
This afternoon, SCP Chelimo Beata, Deputy Director CID, hosted 42 students from the Police Senior Command & Staff College Bwebajja at CID Headquarters, Kibuli.
The students, who are undertaking a one-year senior command course, toured the facility and were briefed on the ongoing reforms. They later paid a courtesy call on the Director, AIGP Tom Magambo, who delivered a lecture of opportunity on Uganda’s historical evolution, key challenges, and the dilemmas of ensuring strategic security and prosperity of our people.
