@wittgenfine I'd respect it if they were wilding, Uncle Ted K style, on A.I. people & infrastructure. But they're not, indeed from a distance they appear to be chilling in the same milieu, which makes it more sinister.
"Why have they desired the day of the LORD? It is darkness not light."

Ovid, Ars Amatoria
August vacation, 1961. Tired of the beach and sunburnt, you sweat indoors, which smells of your uncle's Gauloises. He and dad argue politics. Mom and your aunt won't let you and your cousin go to the cinema because of Brigitte Bardot. You play Mille Bornes instead.
@godvvinslaw Making plans for life after the inevitable, like any shrewd sort of guy that year.
I'd imagine he was in the Resistance, but publicly let himself be known as a collaborationist, the easier to mix with and burglarize high society.
@TheAutumnalFire For my fellow dunces:
Ovid, Tristia, 1. 7. 31-32.
For 'fastidius' read 'fastiditus'.
"Indulgence, then, instead of praise I ask; I shall have abundance of praise if you do not disdain me, reader."
@IncelKulak@ClickingSeason I recall that no one at the time could agree on the meaning of "hipster", and this fact was itself part of the memeplex: arguing about what it meant was the most hipster thing you could do.
