@Chrissietutoruk And while everyone is busy criticising the school and Headteacher for their lack of tack (which is undeniable), we are forgetting where the blame for such a ridiculous policy really lies... blaming the middleman will not change things.
🙏 It’s Friday—that’s something to be grateful for!
UK research shows writing down 3 good things daily reduces stress & boosts wellbeing (Killen & Macaskill, 2015).
Teachers: try it tonight—your brain will thank you.

🧠 Struggling to focus? You’re not broken — it’s biology.
Your brain runs in 90-min ⚡️energy cycles (Ultradian Rhythms). After ~60 mins, focus dips & you need a short break to reset.
🧑🏫 Teachers: stretch, sip water, step out.
Small breaks = big gains.
#UltradianRhythms
Nervous System Reset
Studies show >20% drop in cortisol with 10mins in nature weekly.
Get outside in between lessons if you can and take 3 x Deep Breaths

🧠 Science: Writing reduces stress, improves memory, and builds emotional clarity.
One sentence a day after school:
📓 “One thing I handled well today was…”
Helps rewire your brain for resilience.

New @Nature study:
Teachers w/ high self-efficacy, resilience, & strong staff culture are more engaged.
It’s not just workload—it’s belief, support & adaptability.

🧠 Science: Standing / light movement increases blood flow, boosts alertness, creativity, and mood (Stanford, 2014)
Energy slump by period 4?
Try squatting before marking books 📚
Try standing, not sitting whilst talking in the staff room 🧠
Movement = better cognition & focus
Between lessons? Try 1 min of box breathing:
Inhale 4s 🫁
Hold 4s ✋
Exhale 4s 💨
Hold 4s
Repeat x4.
Small moment. Big impact.

@sage_stage "Reforms". Outsourcing to private catering companies whose focus is reducing costs, leading to mass produced, processed foods that are cheaper to produce and easier to distribute. Academies also aren't required to adhere to national food standards.
@sage_stage We don't owe anyone a "cheerful attitude" that glosses over reality!
Sugarcoating the realities of the job might lead to even worse outcomes: teachers who enter the profession under false pretences are likely to leave within the first few years, exacerbating the crisis.
First day of freedom… what are peoples plans for today? Resting up; catching up with friends and family; heading out somewhere; maybe a BBQ in what was meant to be sunny weather?!
Would love to hear what #teachers are planning for their first day of the holidays?
