#BHM Spotlight: Phyllis Wheatley was a former slave who was kidnapped from West Africa and brought to America. She learned to read, and eventually became one of the first African American to publish a book of poetry in the colonies in 1773. We celebrate her today!

It’s #BlackHistoryMonth, so why not celebrate by reading a piece that’s written by our first black President?! Obama has such a way with words, so I’m excited to see how he’ll use them in this book!

The Alchemist is my FAV!
The day that I read this book, I banged it out in 12 hours. I didn’t even want to pause for a break to eat! I’d read it over and over again!

His prose lives rent free in my mind, really.

I’ve never heard of the first one, but T.D. Jakes has a way with words when it comes to his preaching AND his writing!

Plus, I love a book that ISN’T self help, but that causes you to really look inside and get some things in order.

I would read them over and over again. They aren’t self help books. They teach you love and work ethic from a truthful perspective. The books charged me to do the inner work and not run from it.
