9 of our members have enjoyed a Foodie Group outing to The White Swan in Ampleforth. Whilst some ordered from the menu, others took advantage of the steak night offer which included wine! Delicious food, laughter & excellent service!

Tonight we welcomed Chris Powell from The Cone Exchange in Harrogate. He talked us through his journey to turn industrial waste materials into upcycled craft items to sell for fundraising for local community groups. Inspiring!!

This month's meeting was St John's Ambulance taking us through life saving skills including CPR, choking, bleeding and how to use a defibrillator. Important skills everyone should know but never have to use!
Congratulations to 2 of our members who entered the World Jam Festival at Newby Hall this weekend.
Cerise Smith gained 1sts in the Boozy Jam and Sweet Jam categories.
Helen Faultless gained 2nd in the Home Grown category.

Our March meeting was an evening of creativity as we explored monoprinting. Artist, Hannah Turlington explained ‘how to’ before we had fun experimenting.
We were also trying out the recently refurbished Helmsley Sports Pavilion as our normal meeting room wasn‘t available.
Our 1st meeting of 2025 is on Thur 23rd Jan at 7.30pm in the meeting room of North York Moors National Parks on Bondgate.

19 members enjoyed our annual Christmas dinner out, this time at The Feathers in Helmsley. There was much chatter & merriment. The food was delicious & the service as always friendly. Thanks to Jeanne who organised a surprise raffle & Clare and Alison for arranging the dinner.
15 members and 3 guests went on our annual trip to the panto, Pinocchio last night. A brilliant cast, costumes, and set made for a very enjoyable production.
The audience participation was also excellent! Oh no it wasn’t. Oh yes, it was! We’ll definitely be back next year.
10 members of our walkie talkie sub group met at Crayke & enjoyed a 5 km walk. Weather was perfect & mostly dry underfoot.
Good planning by Clare & Denise sawnus arrive at noon for lunch at The Bakehouse, Crayke. What a lovely place, good food, great company! We’ll return!
Our Oct meeting & 22 members enjoyed a talk by Suzie Rush from @pickedatdawn
She told us how she combines her artistic skills with a love of horticulture. Members also had the opportunity to buy cut flower plug plants.
A number of our members enjoyed our weekly meet up at Crema Coffee and then helped place the knitted / crocheted poppy nets on the Helmsley Town Hall balcony and along the church wall.
Our September meeting & Malton WI invited us to Meredith Towne‘s “Where did you get that hat” talk.
15 members met at La Trattoria to eat beforehand.
Meredith’s mum modelled the hats which were from her personal collection.
Malton WI were excellent hosts & refreshments superb!
Last week 7 members of the walkie talkie group walked from Sneck Yate Bank to High Paradise Farm for lunch. Thanks to Clare & Denise who arranged & led the walk & to Liz for her OS map reading skills.
Perfect weather, stunning views & a tasty lunch at High Paradise Farm.
Storm Lilian tested us when the Friday market was cancelled.
Our members had been busy baking so we had to find an alternative venue.
Thankfully the Town Hall came to our rescue.
On Friday morning we set up for our annual fundraiser!

Instead we played a quiz based on Pointless. Only 3 points separated the four teams! Congratulations A team!
Competition was something beginning with G. 1st was Cerise 2nd Denise & joint 3rd Clare & Helen S.
Helmsley WI entered the Ryedale WI collaborative class & won! Thanks to our talented members for putting together such a great entry; Cerise, Clare, Denise, Helen S, Jeanne, Liz L , Liz P and Sue H .
3 members attended the ‘Strictly come bowling’ competition at Helmsley bowling green on Sunday. The trophy was deservingly won by Pip Interiors & we came 4th. Thank you to all who made us welcome & for the refreshments throughout the day. Thanks also to our sideline cheerleaders!
