Holger has very severe ME/CFS. We want to stand up for him and all the millions missing.
This Twitter account is managed by Holger's younger brother Anton.
This is to all the millions of family members, relatives and friends of patients with #MECFS. We encourage you to show the world your reality and how ME affects your life. United our voices will sound louder. Your voice is needed. Please use #CloseToME and SHARE this message
Iโll not be making any resolutions or setting any goals again this New Year. Getting through each day caring for a loved one with severe health difficulties whoโs been abandoned by the NHS is more than enough. Hereโs hoping that 2022 will be kinder to all #pwME & their carers ๐
When your son looks at you with fear in his eyes and asks: Will you ever be able to do all the things we used to do?
And all you do is look back at him in silenceโฆ then you start to realize what #LongCovid has robbed you of (1/n)
To all #pwME who are abandoned by family members, relatives, friends and society. There are people fighting for you. Don't give up. I wish you a Merry Christmas. #MECFS#HelpHolgerNow#CloseToME
My brother and I used to have competitions at the gym - โwho can do more pull ups?โ
Now, he doesnโt even have the strength to get out of bed due to #MECFS.

(He always won, but never stopped challenging me. I miss that so much.)
#CloseToME ME has taken my health, career, dreams, social life, friends. Living housebound in darkened rooms, minimal noise. Barely surviving just existing with no end in sight. Myalgic encephalomyelitis #pwme#NEISvoid
@HelpHolgerNow#CloseToMe gives our friends, family and carers a chance to express how ME impacts them. The cruelty of this illness runs deeply through families, affecting every aspect of our lives. I send my love to Holger, to you and your family.โค๏ธ

Thanks to all who take part in the #CloseToME campaign. Let us continue to share our stories. Yesterday I hugged my brother for the first time in years. Afterwards I cried outside his hospital room. His suffering is beyond words. Our situation is unreal. #helpholgernow
@Ulli39989686 You are not forgotten. You are important and valued. The raised voices of family members, relatives and friends are supposed to strenghten the voice of all people with ME. Including you. I am so sorry you feel alone.
