I had a awesome UPS guy and my German Shep would jump in his truck every time and didn't want to get out and he said "I'll jus take him around the local area and bring him back when I'm done". I said sure try it. He loves car rides. He drove with him 20 minutes or so and pulled up and my dog jumped out and was very happy. Walked into the house like nothing happened.
