2/ ..and be treated at a hemophilia treatment center. Of 3.2 million people predicted to have VWD under 2% are seen at hemophilia treatment centers. Therefore, this 16 year statistic, while a great stride in learning, is a highly biased sample and likely grossly underestimated.
1/ Please stop using the 16 year CDC statistic when talking about how long it takes for women to be diagnosed with VWD!!! This statistic is taken out of context and misquoted. The CDC study interviewed 75 women with VWD who managed to get a diagnosis.

@ProfMakris The pharmaceutical industry has highly overestimated the patient interest in gene therapy for Hemophilia a. Risks do not outweigh benefits when there are so many fantastic therapies available. Additionally, mild Hemophilia can be more nuanced and frustrating to treat than severe.
Hematologists are so good at protecting women w/ hemophilia during surgery and the days immediately following hysterectomy. Quite a few, however, forget about bleeding risk weeks after as stitches dissolve, sending patients to the ER pouring 🩸
