I just saw a clip of writing advice that really makes sense...
"The key is not to try harder, it is to resist less."
Just get the damn thing out of your head and on the page. Make it pretty later.
I've been so inactive on here and in my writing it's not even funny.
Doing this writing thing in the 'spare' hours of the day is tough, once you've finished work, spent time with the kids, walked the dog, cooked and eaten dinner it's like 9pm and you're tired.
What do fellow writers think about this?
I think taking inspiration from different cultures is a good thing. It can educate/enlighten readers.
Authors should take inspiration from wherever they can get it, and if it makes a good story, lean into it.
It might well be time to move off this platform as a creator.
It's such a shame, this place used to be a useful community for writers and artists.
I'm sure we can rebuild it somewhere else... 🦋
Recently I've grown in frustration that my writing isn't good, let alone good enough to get published.
I have incomplete first drafts of several projects because I really struggle with the 'just get it on the page, fix it later' thing.
But I like to try and be optimistic, and this bit really spoke to me:
"...I rather suspect that I will achieve my longest-held dreams and also that they will solve no fundamental aspects of my human experience, aside perhaps from the need for money..."
Great paintings that inspired iconic movie scenes... 🧵 (continued)
