It’s been on my mind to talk about this for a while.
The country is not safe anymore. The “one chance” vehicles in Abuja is increasing daily. Once you get into their vehicle, they’d rob you of everything you’ve got. Beat you till you’re forced to transfer everything in your accounts to them. They even have POS now.
Even some uber and bolt riders are now into this. That’s how bad it has gotten.
One practical precaution is not to keep all your funds in your regular spending account. Download authentic investment apps like Cowrywise, piggyVest, risevest, MyInvestar… etc. Some of these are directly licensed by SEC.
Keep enough money in your regular bank account for daily expenses, but consider storing larger sums separately. If the worst happens and you’re forced to empty your bank account, you may not lose everything you own.
For even greater protection, some platforms offer locked savings or investment options that cannot be withdrawn immediately.
You may also consider spreading your funds across multiple accounts. Some people keep secondary accounts off their phones entirely, making them less visible and less accessible in the event of a robbery.
Also, if your ATM card is lost or stolen, act quickly. Block the card and secure your account immediately.
What you’re doing, essentially, is reducing the risk of being financially wiped out if the unfortunate and unforeseen ever happens.
We can’t control everything, but we can take sensible steps to reduce our risk.
I wish us and our families, divine safety🙏
