@jodyjsperling We have found over 5,000 exoplanets in the universe. We have found one that hosts human life. Even assuming the universe is infinite, we must assume that only one in five thousand have humans. That suggests our existence to be precious enough that it has intrinsic value.
@garybrannan He's partly right, though. If this becomes a secret that everyone talks about for months on end, he'll be branded as a liar and that'll stick. There are options. If the young person's lawyer is right, there'll be papers lining up to refute the Sun's story and get the truth out.
@CatsOfYore @CrashsLanding@BlindCatRescue@WishesRescue@PurrfectPals@CatsOldies Les Puces is a charity operating in Brittany (Fr) who take in cats of all ages and backgrounds. I have adopted three cats from them (two as a pair I have now) and they are so lovely. They support foster schemes for cats waiting for adoption.

@droadke@qikipedia Technically, it would increase the overall albedo of the planet - if only by an infinitely small fraction. The planet's albedo is important for reflecting sunlight back into space, but is unfortunately falling due to icesheet loss.
@garybrannan Also, it's not the first time in history. The people outside Westminster Abbey were asked if they would pledge allegiance to the King in 1066. Unfortunately, due to a language barrier, rampant arson ensued.
@garybrannan I can imagine the moment they came up with this at the Palace, where they thought "ah yes, people will love a bit of audience participation" and then this happened....
@qikipedia They also provide useful phrases is a number of endangered minority languages, so it's the place to head if you'd like to be polite to a Breton, Frisian or Sardinian.
@garybrannan The whole voter ID thing is a conspiracy. Voter fraud is negligible at most in the UK. The whole thing is set up to disenfranchise marginalised groups and traditional non-tory voters.
