Terrible newspaper column @thetimes today from Rod Liddle, on the reaction from Liverpool supporters being upset with the chants from Luton last Sunday.

It’s strange that he doesn’t mention the Hillsborough tragedy being behind those chants, but writes it off as terrace banter. But you would expect that from him knowing what he’s written in the past & who he still writes for now. Awful journalist.

Also bizarre the sports editor of @thetimes would allow that column to go in his paper 🤬

Divided UK. A sad sight to see from where I live. Country needs a GE & period of reflection & coming together. I'm doubtful without sweeping constitutional reforms & meaningful rapprochement with EU any improvement is possible. Certainly Brexit facilitated populism isn't helping

@Haggis_UK Lots of people on the front bench, let alone the parliamentary party, are unfit for office. Coffey displays one of the ‘qualities’ many current Tories have: truthblindness, a facility with avoiding or denying what is obvious. Johnson lied (repeatedly) and yet they cover for him.

@mikiebarb I listened to the show (from Europe), and couldn’t help fall off my chair near the end. A realignment election? Featuring two octogenarians? One who might win and hand over, the other who could win in prison? Good show, but you don’t always need a narrative with a little bow.
