One day, Nigerians may realise that we have been arguing about one of the most globally respected men we have living among us—as though he were just another neighbourhood pastor.

Yes, I'm talking about Pastor Adeboye, and yes, that's him with the presidents of Seychelles and Uganda.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye is not just a pastor. He is not merely an elder statesman. He has, for decades, operated at a level of influence that looks remarkably like diplomacy, without ever needing a diplomatic passport. He has counselled kings, presidents and leaders across generations, and in many countries, his reception by the highest authorities is itself considered an honour.

Yet back home, familiarity has done what familiarity often does: it has made the extraordinary look ordinary. Which state in Nigeria can he visit where the governor would not consider it an honour to receive him? How many men of his age and stature can walk into presidential palaces across different nations and be received with the kind of respect he commands? And really, how much can you pay such a man to become partisan? At some point, the mathematics simply stops making sense.

This is why I think we need to be more intellectually honest about some of the attacks against him. Criticism is legitimate; Pastor Adeboye is not beyond scrutiny. But some of the recent political narratives surrounding him appear less concerned with what he has actually done and more with what people fear he might do, particularly the fear that he could align with a political opponent. So, rather conveniently, intentions are invented, motives are assigned, and then the man is attacked for them. Quite an efficient political system.

But for decades, he has maintained a remarkable distance from partisan politics. Governments have changed, presidents have come and gone, political parties have risen, fallen and reinvented themselves, yet his influence has remained largely spiritual and moral rather than partisan.

You don't have to agree with Pastor Adeboye to recognise his stature. You don't have to defend everything he says to appreciate his contribution. And you certainly don't have to worship a man to acknowledge that Nigeria is privileged to have someone of his global standing living among us.

The world has been receiving and honouring him for decades. Perhaps Nigerians should occasionally look up from our political arguments long enough to notice what we have right here at home.

This post is not for everybody. It is for those willing to remove the political goggles for a moment, keep an open mind, and ask one simple question: how fortunate are we to have a man of this stature among us?

Today, we met with representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who led a protest to the Oyo State Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan.

After listening to their concerns, I assured them that government at the national, State and local levels are working together to ensure the safe return of our children and teachers who were abducted in Oriire LGA. I said that we will continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of residents of our dear State, and that we are open to feedback regarding the security of Oyo State.

For far too long, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and The Redeemed Christian Church of God have been subjected to false narratives, deliberate misrepresentations, and misleading commentaries driven by personal interests and agenda setting.

Pastor Jerry Eze just empowered 240 Nigerians with grants worth over ₦1 billion — real impact, real lives changed. Not noise. Not promises. Not politics. Results.

And when questions arose, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission looked into his financial inflows — money coming from different continents — and found nothing wrong. Instead, they acknowledged integrity, transparency, and righteousness.

But what did people focus on? “EFCC investigated him.”

They ignored the testimony. They ignored the impact. They ignored the good.

This is the problem.

While many criticize the church, the truth is: the church has quietly built systems that work better than what we see in government.

Look at:

Redeemed Christian Church of God

Dominion City

Koinonia and other Kingdom Churches

These are not just places of worship — they are structured institutions. They build people. They create jobs. They empower families. They raise leaders.

Take Canaan Land for example — constant power supply, functioning systems, order, structure. A working model of what a society should look like.

Now imagine this:

Nigeria has:

109 Senators

360 House of Representatives members

36 Governors

That’s 505 leaders.

If each one empowered just 240 Nigerians every 6 months, that’s:

480 people per year per leader

242,400 Nigerians empowered every single year

Let that sink in.

In just a few years, poverty levels would drastically reduce. Families would stabilize. Small businesses would rise. Communities would transform.

And the best part? Those empowered will empower others.

This is far more effective than sharing rice and beans during campaigns.

The church is not the problem. The church is part of the solution.

Today, I celebrate Pastor Jerry Eze and every ministry genuinely lifting people out of hardship. This is what leadership looks like. This is what impact looks like.

Nigeria doesn’t just need policies. Nigeria needs people with heart, structure, and integrity.

And clearly, we already have examples to learn from.
