@YesterdaysBrit1 I'm not sure this is completely true, but nevertheless, there is certainly a difference. It may have more to do with numbers and the fact that British culture was stronger and more forceful then. After years of being hollowed out, incomers can now attack & ignore our way of life.

Ultimately, much of the work to undo this country has been going on for decades, so while we were all having fun, our country was being hollowed out.

One only has to look at Britain in 1952 and then compare it with Britain of 2022 to see that something truly catastrophically awful has happened. To my knowledge, she did and said nothing to stop this.

@YesterdaysBrit1 She would be doing exactly what the government is doing today. She played her part in the 80s and that part was limited to what the regime needed at that time and what could be gotten away with.

@YesterdaysBrit1 Possibly, but I suspect it's more a case of cognitive dissonance. They loved her, but you'd assume, they hate what has become of this country, yet she presided over all of it, but they can't see the connect.
