A coalition of civil rights groups filed a federal class-action lawsuit over the "horrific" and "inhumane" conditions at Camp East Montana, a desert tent facility on the Fort Bliss military base in El Paso, Texas.
The concentration camp opened in August 2025 and it's the nation's largest immigration detention center.
There are allegations of guard beatings, abusive solitary confinement, inadequate medical and mental-health care, disease exposure, and coercion to sign deportation papers.
A recent inspection found 49 violations of detention standards, and at least 3 people have died in the facility's first 9 months.
This is a real-life horror movie: Military base with a concentration camp in the desert. Thousands of detained people isolated from public view. Human rights violations shrouded in secrecy.
