Wk 7/8 “My Mindful Classroom” project @HermanElem Mindfulness only works if you DO the practices. It’s more than hearing about it & thinking about it. Luckily, the practices are simple & easy to do! What benefits have been noticed by students who ARE practising? #Gr6s@gecdsbpro
Mindfulness of Emotions @HermanElem w/ Gr. 1,2,5,6,7& 8. Why do humans have emotions? What purpose do they serve? Do you think there are good & bad emotions? There are no bad emotions. All emotions are important because emotions are information from our bodies/minds. @gecdsbpro
Mindfulness of Emotions @HermanSteps What are you feeling? Name it to tame it. Rather than reacting when hit with a big emotion, pause, breathe, identify it, notice how the emotion feels in the body (E.g. heart fast/slow, stomach relaxed/clenched, rate of breath?) @gecdsbpro
7/8J created their version of a mindfulness toolkit based on the skills they’ve learned with @JNolin6
This pilot project has been an amazing oppportunity for the students & staff!

Wk 3 @HermanElem ♥️ We used sound to focus in the present. What sounds do you love? Students-Rain through a window, fire crackling, cat purring, basketball swoosh, music, wind, thunder, ocean waves… Notice how your body feels when you hear pleasant sounds. @gecdsbpro#calming
