@Nuuspod Ek hoop dat mense tot besef sal kom. Ek sien baie sê hulle is geskok. Dit skok my nie; dit maak my bang. As die stem van die boer só afgemaak en afgelag kan word, dan moet ons stil word en begin bid, want dit wat vir ons voorle is baie erger as net 'n aflag.
@KanthanPillay@RomanCabanac No he would not have, Because he has friends that are farmers, even though he does not farm, he always asked advice and tried to understand the situation on the ground. I am afraid of what lies ahead in the Dept. of Agriculture, and this today scared me as a farmer.
Dear Yoco South Africa, how can a private company cancel services to businesses that are fully legal under South African law? Does a company now have the right to act as judge and jury over what the government has already deemed legal?
If that logic applies, then pharmacies, chemical suppliers, alcohol and tobacco retailers should also be denied services, since many of their products are restricted or discouraged under international health regulations.
The real question is: how can a private company position itself as a regulatory authority when the South African government already regulates and permits these industries?
Lower global food prices and the higher fertiliser prices. Why?
I should be in bed, but I was taking a quick look at newspapers before I rest and noticed a nice chart in the Financial Times about the global food prices and the fertiliser prices.
Thus, I thought I should highlight that global grain prices remain reasonably at lower levels, and this way will be a reality for some time.
Some may wonder why this is different from the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war, which led to an immediate surge in grain and fertiliser prices.
Two things are different from the 2022 Black Sea war. First, there are ample grain supplies currently, and this is adding downward pressure on prices.
Second, the Middle East is also not a major grain-producing region but an importer; therefore, a war at a time when we have ample global grain supplies is not going to lead to an immediate increase in prices.
We will only start to worry about the impact of all of this on global grain prices if the war continues for longer and that starts to impact fertiliser usage in the upcoming season.
For now, though, it really is time to sit back and watch and hope that the war ends much sooner.
Anyways, I must rest for now.

When we walked into court this morning the minister filed a late supplementary affidavit with some gems inside. This being one of them. Here are the links to the rest. Take notice of promises made in the affidavit and minutes of the task team.

@jsteenhuisen Min. @jsteenhuisen, what about the tobacco farmers? Must we die out and fade away like the Heidelberg Factory that is closing? Please, our market is three-quarters illicit trade that is slowly killing us as farmers.
