It is important to remind the event organizers that the Economic Freedom Fighters was never formed by celebrities nor built on the back of influencer culture. This is a revolutionary movement born from the struggles of the poor, the marginalized, and the landless masses of our people. As CIC Julius Malema has rightfully declared, the EFF belongs to the Ground Forces — not the elite, not the famous, but the foot soldiers who carry this movement on their shoulders.

We must reflect on the incident where Bethusile, a known full-time ANC mascot, was included in the EFF lineup. It wasn’t leadership that initially objected — it was the Ground Forces who stood up and said No, protecting the integrity of the movement. That’s because Ground Forces are not passive spectators — they are the living conscience of the EFF.

Organizers must understand: if you treat the Ground Forces with dignity, humility, and respect, you will earn unwavering support. But this creeping tendency of prioritizing celebrity culture over revolutionary discipline is dangerous and out of touch with our founding values. Influencers, unlike the Fighters, are often driven by commercial interest, not political principle. They go where the money flows.
