“ Reminds us of the Grace of God
June 20 2005 - the day that changed the trajectory of the Ziegenfuss family.
Today we celebrate 20 years of perseverance, healing, and the impossible.
On this day, 20 years ago, dad met the business end of an IED while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His heart would stop…TWICE, he would contract MRSA…twice, and he would lose his pinky, (among many more graphic physical and mental injuries)
His duty never ended though. He would return to the middle east in 2011 serving in Afghanistan for 6 months, and wouldn’t retire until 2015. As many if you know, his DD-214 would also not be the end of his service to the United States.
He started Hero Labradors in 2016 with the goal of giving back to the veterans that give their all for our freedoms. In almost 10 years, we have donated 199 of our dogs to veterans, first responders, gold star families, police departments, hospitals and other facilities that aid our disabled service members. But none of that would have ever happened if Dad didn’t get hurt.
In 20 years he taught me how to persevere against the impossible, to always fight for the right thing, that your mental and physical health DO NOT determine the rest of your life, and serving others is the most fulfilling thing you can do in your life.
Happy 20th Alive Day, dad! You’re my biggest role model…and the biggest pain in my ass; I’m beyond proud of your recovery and absolutely honored to be your daughter.
Now let’s go eat some steak!”

@SharrellAnne2 So... here's what I did. A friend is a professor at RIT is the art dept. Had a competition among design students for a logo.
They submitted designs, prof selected top 3, I chose winner. I put up $100 for a prize.
Got it in a whole bunch of formats (pdf, svg, jpg, vector)
@cdrsalamander Yup. Dude's getting arrested, then transported to the ER, where he's gonna get an orthopedic surgery consult to make his elbows bend the right way again, a dental surgery consult for new teeth, and a proctology consult to remove LOTS of office supplies.
