Sadly, my parents, 2 sisters with their families and 3 oldest children are still there. My parents can't make the long flights. My sister's don't see the danger, but 2 of our kids applied to come over.
Thank you for your service. My daughter is thinking of joining the airforce.
Before Mandela tried to fix things, however, he was a part of the bombings of white civilians. He was the one who taught today's generation to sing "One settler, one bullet." Age brought him wisdom, but Sadly, the damage had already been done.
Winnie had her expensive house in the suburbs... Just not where everyone expected. And it wasn't the one she showed to the cameras.
They were all so good at hiding their riches from the world, only south Africans knew, and most to this day don't know the extent of how much was looted from the state.
Last time I voted, we had over 400 political parties to choose from ...
My first family arrived in South Africa in 1715. My husband's family in the 1800's but we and our children were told to return to Europe. The country my family came from no longer exists, which under our current refugee status makes me a person without a country.
There are things about that bill that people don't get. It's not just land. It's everything. Your car, your bank account, even your phone. If they say it's in the public interest, they offer you R0, which apparently is a number and therefore counts as compensation and you lose whatever they want.
😂 I'm a part time romance author... I like long form. Besides, I struggle to sleep while my husband works graveyard shift.
Wow! I wouldn't even have guessed. Your spelling is far better than mine. Autocorrect keeps putting in words I didn't type 😂 and then it looks like I'm terrible at English.
But I had better get to bed. I have to be up in a couple of hours to make my hubby some coffee and find out how his night went before taking care of our home while he gets some well deserved sleep. Have a good night, and thank you for the chat and again for the kindness
It's question time again ... School ... In SA we had to have ALL the supplies ready before school started, according to the subjects they picked. How do I know what supplies if we don't know which subjects yet?
This sweet young couple just arrived and because of the funding limits, they have very little in their new home. I want to make it clear. They are NOT asking for anything. They published their list because they were asked to do so by caring people. If you can help, that is amazing. If you can't, that's also cool. 🫶
I get where you are coming from, but some of us had 2 or 3 days to pack before we left. That meant everything we owned was probably donated to other families in need and we arrived with very little or no money. So let me tell you what we did before putting beds and bigger items on lists. We dumpster dived and cleaned up perfectly good furniture. We tried marketplace, but even if an item is free and preloaded, transporting isn't free. We gone to Goodwand thrift stores and visit the clothing and food banks until we find jobs. In most cases we can't get our drivers licenses immediately because we have to save up for them. When we have jobs and licenses every penny goes towards buying a cheap yet reliable second hand car because most employers require your own transport. So haul is also out of the question to collect free items since we don't always have the funds or the licenses. So we put our hopes and dreams on a gift registry after being asked to do so. Sometimes we are blessed by someone who can afford to buy a bed. Sometimes it's something smaller. We appreciate whatever we can get help with and whatever is left we will find a way to get ourselves. Thank you for the advice and I hope this answers your question. We don't mind pre loved items. We just can't afford them when transport still has to be included. Have a blessed day
🤣🤣 You had better not let a Zulu hear you say they lost at blood rivier ... they don't believe they did. Thank you for keeping it private. I respect what you are trying to accomplish with an open platform. As someone who can't even refer to myself as African because of the hate I get, I appreciate it. I agree with your vision on politics. My husband and I are very similar. Conservatives but we don't just follow the sheep. We want to hear both sides and make up our own minds. You should watch some of Col Chris Wyatt's YouTube videos if you haven't before. He has been talking about South Africa for around 6 years. My grandma always told me "If you can't say something nice, keep your big mouth shut." She was a very wise old lady. I would much rather lose an argument and learn something than fight knowing I could be wrong. Yes, since putting up our lists, we've had to deal with online bullies calling us entitled because we are asking for beds, and downright racism and hatred. We are grateful to have received a bed when we arrived, but my husband and I have spent the last 3 months sleeping in shifts 😂. Only this time it's not to protect our family but because he is 6,4" ... We don't both fit on a queen size bed because then his legs hang halfway off the bed. Sorry, I didn't mean to complain. It's just that I had to explain it to someone for the 100th time just now and I'm about to just remove the beds all together. You didn't sound corny at all. I agreed and knowing Tanya, she probably did swell with what you said. We are so very happy to be here. Thank you again for your words of encouragement and your kindness. May you sleep well, and be blessed.
@CharliseMac Thank you. We got the list. 🫶 I just needed to check if we needed to have all the supplies ready before school started. 🙈 But I've been told that's not necessary.
They said they are reviewing her transcripts and the grade 9 is just the beginning to get her into school. They also said there is a huge possibility it will change even before school starts. That's why I was freaking out a little. I didn't want to buy supplies and have to change everything in a month's time.
🙈 Thankfully, she turns 18 in about 6 months. If they try to teach her that stuff she will probably get herself expelled or something. We plan to move her to college for GED as soon as she's 18 ... It's a thing ... We tried to get her into GED classes, but with our status, she has to be 18.
@WalkawayKirsten She's 17 but the school said she starts grade 9 so they can assess her first. We have the basics. I was just a little worried about the list we got. But thanks to some advice, I'm relaxed now.
@HeardChanda Yes, we also received the basic supplies. Then we got the list and since I don't know how the schools work, I freaked out. 🤣 But all my amazing friends and followers quickly sorted me out.
https://t.co/yLdzyWPowl’ve made a new gift registry after some issues with my previous wishlist. 🥺❤️ To everyone who has supported us, shared our story, or gifted anything at all, please know how very grateful we are. 🏻 We never expect anything but apparently everything we get
