@rabbriansamuel It is a promise to all Israelites, not just Judah, but spoken to the northern tribes. The promise of multiplication forked (primarily, not exclusively) to Joseph, with Judah getting the scepter (leadership).
Jesus had the brilliance to realize that he wasn't simply the savior of 1st-century Jews, but also the sage for all nations throughout history. Do step into his King of Kings role, he had to open the door to non-kosher peoples. Brilliant. I hope his people can see his brilliance.
