🤔 Daniel Blair thinks one of SMX’s biggest problems might not actually be the racing.

It might be the NAME.

“SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs.”

On the Blair Matthes Project, Blair argued that those words create a MASSIVE expectation.

You’re basically telling fans this is supposed to be the grand finale that somehow sits above BOTH Supercross and Pro Motocross.

And that’s where he thinks SMX has backed itself into a corner.

Supercross is already awesome.

Motocross is already awesome.

So if you create a third championship and sell it as the ultimate combination of both…

🔥 It better feel bigger and better.

Instead, Blair thinks we’ve gotten tracks that often don’t really feel like Supercross OR motocross.

His suggestion?

Take some pressure off the branding.

Call it something more like a three-race Cup, put a pile of money on the line, experiment with the formats and let the racing stand on its own instead of constantly having to live up to the “World Championship Playoffs” billing.

Interesting way to look at it.

Maybe part of the SMX problem isn’t the product.

Maybe it’s the expectation the name created.
