Another year around the Sun 🎈
Can’t thank God enough for the blessings bestowed upon me this year. All I can ask is that each year is better than the year before. 🤞🏾
San Diego State is hiring Sacramento State director of recruiting CJ Pollard as a recruiting coordinator, a source tells @CBSSports.
The former USC defensive back worked at UC Davis before Sac State.
@HeyImTray Either way, I agree that a staggered stance from a movement and leverage standpoint puts guys in a better position. Always take something away!!
Love the db talk man!! Need more of it on this app, especially from guys who played.
A lot of collegiate defenses are one high. Meaning your help are the hooks (linebackers) INSIDE of you. Therefore. You should slightly head up to outside leverage. To take away Outs/Corners/ and the #1 cover 1 beater.. slot fade.
@HeyImTray For me it was always mental. That staggered foot to my leverage always made me feel like it was “closed off”. Especially playing catch at the goal line. Stagger that inside foot to cut off/wall inside routes.
It’s a scooch/small backpedal to allow the slot WR to eat up space and meeting him at a catch/leverage point. If at the catch point he is inside of you catch at the low hip outside. If he is trying to get outside. Shoot hands, continue to work him outside and run.
@HeyImTray@Bigherk_10 I've got a question about your scootch-to-catch technique. When you're teaching it, are you still letting a guy scootch back, then 45 kick, and shoot hands? Is it just a slower scootch, trying to let the WR eat the space? Do you have a progression of how the footwork looks?
Depends on the personnel that you have. If you have guys that can win in man coverage consistently. Play it. Man helps so much with stopping the run as well.
Thank you for this. My slot guy was giving 2 way go & for the most part was in good position, but there were times he had dead feet & that’s what lead to him being beat. I definitely just learned something. Appreciate this.
In my opinion. I understand everyone is different. I truly believe it is easier with a a “Scoot to Catch” technique in the slot. It eliminates dead feet and allows you to hold your leverage. Watch 2015-2017 University of Washington and 2018-20 Cal and NFL Tyrann Matthieu .
@HeyImTray You don’t think you can hold your leverage just as easier with a square stance playing catch? Stance doesn’t make it easier or harder. Not moving your feet with push to move footwork or cutting WR off with 45 kicks or 45 Crossover footwork makes it harder. I agree 2way = no go!
