Amid the statistics that seem to suggest the Church in America is dying, I see something different and exciting. I can hear the hopeful whispers of Christ resonating the truths he spoke in Matt 16:18, that the Church is in fact not dying, but rather it is being revealed.
Not only did God consistently tell his people to tear down idolized statues that failed to represent him, he blessed the people who did. (A few scriptures for consideration: 2 Kings 18:4, Ezekiel 6:6, Micah 1:7, Micah 5:13, Isaiah 30:22, Zechariah 13:20)
Stoked to speak at Sarasota DNOW this weekend! The message? The news is GREATER, the assurance is GREATER, and the change is GREATER because HE is GREATER! #srqdnow19
You must love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners...and any immigrant who lives in your land must be treated as if they were one of your citizens...Your love for me (Jesus) is only as legitimate as your love for them.
Deut 10:19, Lev 19:34, Matt 25

Perhaps the clearest indicator that we’re complacent with worldliness is that we’re surprised by godliness; that the Christians we’d quickly lift up as “saint”, Christ would call “standard”, and those whom we’d label “extreme”, Christ would call “expected”.
I’m over the moon about visiting the Northstreet Neighborhood intentional community in NC for the next few days. Hoping to learn a lot about living incarnationally and interdependantly as the Church. Please pray for me this week.
I’m getting off Twitter for now b/c 1) I’ve been seduced by a desire to stay relevant & influential more than a desire to glorify God. It’s exhausting. 2) Words have been a cheap substitute for action. 3) Comparison has led to jealousy of other people’s ministries intead of joy.
@savannahfindley I will typically invite a person to sit down and enjoy a meal together when they ask for money for food. The goal of good charity isn’t economic security found in dependence on one party. It should be interdependent friendship between both.
@savannahfindley ... I know, however, Jesus would never tell me to hand someone a tool with which they intend to harm themselves (i.e. money for drugs alcohol, etc) But my answer as a Christian must always be “yes” to those in need. It just might not be the “yes” they wanted.
@savannahfindley ... in regards to your question. Here is what I have learned in two years of homelessness: almost all people who are panhandling (note I didn’t say homeless people) are using the money to foster addiction. But Jesus tells me to give to those who ask. Hence, the complexity...
@savannahfindley I have to apologize for the delay in getting back with you on this. I think it’s such an important issue that I wanted to somehow film a friend of mine who is homeless sharing their opinion. I think it’s worth asking the homeless community as their voice is a critical one...
