16 days away from family is hard. But running into your little brother on the fire line helps.

I met a handful of firefighters tonight at #Kirkwood, who showed me some of their tech that updates in real time. It includes active cameras on the dozers working north of the resort.

The good news is that for now, crews here are confident the #CaldorFire will stay away for now

@LarieFlaherty From our vantage point, everything north of us is a faint orange glow at best, so it’s tough to pick out any of those spots from the ground here… It’s been pretty quiet this evening, honestly

The fire is DEFINITELY still there, we can see the glow of it and there are embers along the north and south edge of the 88… But it’s very clearly moved Northeast and away from this area

By the way the 88 West of Kirkwood is a MESS

Just 24 hours ago, we couldn’t see smoke until we bent around the 88 and reached Caples Lake...

Tonight? We could see it from miles away

Back here at #Kirkwood, three bulldozers have been loaded onto semis after we spotted them plowing into the side of the mountain all night. Doesn’t look like they’re immediately going anywhere, but they’re loaded up in case they’re required elsewhere #CaldorFire @ABC10 @KREM2
