I started talking mental health 15 years ago. It is obvious to me that attempts to reach men have totally failed.
The "its okay not to be okay" campaigns don't resonate with most men.

I have ideas how to reach those men. I’m building an AI-driven platform with animation, characters, and personalized journeys — and I’m looking for a creative technologist who can translate the chaos from my brain into reality.

If “job security” matters more than impact, this isn’t for you.

I also made a joke in a video we did about Punk (a Vegan) fighting Chef Boyardee.

Caring for someone who has a mental illness can be extraordinarily difficult. Sometimes you need to be reminded: “Don’t give up on a person with a mental illness when they act like a person with mental illness.”
I know this. People haven’t given up on me.

My rules for the "check in".
1. Ask. Regularly. Don't quit after one "I'm fine."
2. Explain why you're asking. Give specific evidence as to why your concerned. IE. "you dont seem like yourself, and here's why..."
3. Ask rhetorical questions like "I want to know if you're mentally okay. its fine if you don't want to answer me- but answer yourself, and be honest."
4. The key question for all of us: Does your mental health allow you to live your best life?

Lyndon Byers was my buddy. He was an amazing man. He was naturally funny and could both dish it and take it. He knew he had CTE. A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27:

“It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young.

At 26, I thought I had time…
To fall in love.
Start a family.
Grow old.

But cancer doesn’t care about plans.

Now, I understand how fragile life really is. Every single day is a gift, not a guarantee.

I’m not writing this to scare you. I’m writing to remind you: really live.

Stop stressing over little things. Be kind to your body- move it, nourish it, stop criticizing it. One day you’ll wish you had appreciated it.

Go outside.
Look at the sky.
Feel the sun.
Just be.

Spend less time chasing “stuff” - more time making memories. Don’t skip moments with people you love.

Laugh more.
Write a note.
Tell someone you love them.

Complain less.
Give more.
Helping others brings more joy than anything you can buy.

Be present.
Put your phone down.
Show up - really show up.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need a perfect body, or a perfect life.

Just follow what makes your heart light up. Say no to what drains you. Make changes when you need to.

And please - donate blood. I wouldn’t have had that extra year without it. And that year gave me memories I’ll hold close… forever.
