Built in 1853, the Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church was saved from flames during the June, 1863 firing on Bluffton. Later purchased by nine Freedmen, this church stands testament to empowered people who have kept the faith for over 167 years in our town.
July 20, 6-8pm: Join @HeywardHouse for its Gullah Backyard Cookout, an evening of traditional Gullah cuisine and live music! Proceeds will benefit the restoration of historic Campbell Chapel AME church. Learn more about the church here: https://t.co/7IPCXeECHr #GreenBookSC
The Town of Bluffton is in the process of updating its historic resource survey. Citizens may see people canvassing the Old Town Bluffton Historic District & the adjacent Goethe Road, Buck Island Road, & Simmonsville Road corridors. They will be taking pictures & gathering data.
