@EmmaM13579@AKayumAhmed1 Narrativizing is incredible power. It visibilizes. It makes us exist. But, hierarchy silences.
Everyone can can promote the human right to be heard by making space for story - by listening.
True listening is a political act, and this poem was a great place to start.

@gml2168@AKayumAhmed1 I love the fabric metaphor, because it makes clear how integral racism is to western power structures, and emphasizes the need to throw the fabric away and start over!

@mssydneypowell@AKayumAhmed1 I couldn't agree more about decoloniality.
I think cross-national consensus is an interesting and important question. It may be that any totalizing HR framework is inappropriate and that HR must be more based in the local and particular.
Would love to learn more :)

@AKayumAhmed1 Corpus (Latin) = "body"
How is HR embodied? Hegemonic western legal constructs? Original instructions? Deep listening? Radical love?
HR must be delinked - living embodiments in decentralized non-hierarchical mutual aid networks, not more laws.
WE embody the corpus.

@RachelGroth1@AKayumAhmed1 Yes! Love how you centralize direct action as the force for change, and int'l HR law as a mediator, rather than just focusing on the law. #P8607
@pic_8607@AKayumAhmed1#P8607 THIS! Change never has one cause, and certainly not words written by mostly white mostly western mostly men. Change is: mass movements, intergenerational solidarity, transnational coalition. There's a lot more to this story than just int'l HR law.
@sanalalani786 @AKayumAhmed1 Agreed - int'l HR law is more likely serve as a means for the west to exploit than for social justice. How can we develop accountability and transformative justice (w/ or w/o int'l HR law)? #P8607
@AKayumAhmed1 Int'l HR law is:
-Justiciable/pageantry
-Powerful/limited
-Useful/less
They're just one tool - TAC proves they *can* work. Dobbs proves they often don't. But they're the wrong thread: temporary band-aids, articulations of power, distractions.
"The masters tools..."

@sophie_hoffer @AKayumAhmed1 I think types of advocacy vary. What about successful campaigns stuck? What about failed campaigns was futile? How do int'l HR laws fit in? #P8607
@giovanni_kyle@AKayumAhmed1 That being said, I'm 110% here for economic solutions if we're talking about economies of abundance!
https://t.co/fXcbH9eIh3
@giovanni_kyle@AKayumAhmed1 I agree that it has to be an unconventional and non-physical rebellion. I am not sure it should be economical. Fighting capitalism using capitalism means more capitalism. We need to delink as much as possible, including in our rebellion. #P8607
@rmm2266@AKayumAhmed1 Predecessors plant trees and successors enjoy the shade
Predecessors build roads and successors walk.
We're called on to play both roles!
#P8607
@rmm2266@AKayumAhmed1 To be good descendants (understood broadly: kinship not just bloodlines), we practice gratitude for rights we enjoy that those before us struggled for. To be good ancestors, we keep the rebellion alive!
A teacher shared these with me :)
前人栽树后人乘凉
前人修路后人行
@Doyel_hhr@AKayumAhmed1 I hope it's enough, because strength in numbers is all that we've got!
Story is a really important part of struggle, so I think that means (when given permission) screaming each other's stories of injustice from the roof tops until they can't ignore us! #P8607
@Saroshaamomin @AKayumAhmed1 “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” - MLK #P8607
@Saroshaamomin @AKayumAhmed1 I think this is one of the things we need to do better - solidarity. Focusing on 1 issue, we forget that it's all interlinked. It's not capitalism, racism, patriarchy, colonialism, etc. that we're fighting. We're fighting racial patriarchal colonial capitalism! #P8607
@Molly6158@AKayumAhmed1 "On this earth there are pestilences and there are victims, and it's up to us, so far as possible, not to join forces with the pestilences." - Camus
We may not win, but we will not give up the fight.

@theppadolp@AKayumAhmed1 Yes! Let's rethink revolution and situate it in the everyday!! I love this :) We as individuals constitutes each other's environments and thus determine each other's right to health. Since govs are failing, we have to step up, all day, everyday. #P8607
