@askjcp Hi! My groomsmen & I are wearing the J.Ferrar slim fit suits in “new navy” for my wedding in May. I wanted to get a vest, but it seems like you have all other colors except “new navy.” There’s a big & tall one but I need regular. Does a new navy vest exist?
Least favorite teacher feedback loop: teaching requires more work than you’re given time for, so you go in early / stay late to do it, get tired / sick from not enough rest, can’t stay late / go in early because you don’t feel well, more work piles up, repeat forever (but harder)
I always get jealous of the characters on Grey’s Anatomy because they’re given enough time during their work day to fill out / review patients’ charts.
In middle school I built robots out of scrap metal, RC airplane servos, and motors from conveyor belts. They fought each other in a lexan cage. Today I’m on the other side of the competition, facilitating an event I wish I had when I was younger. Full circle. @firstlegoleague
Grabbing lunch means I get back to my classroom w 10 min to eat (assuming it only takes 5 min at the restaurant to get my order). It’s a lot easier for someone working a desk job to munch & type than it is for teachers to facilitate math stations with a chalupa in their hands.
Coles ES is the same area & isn’t getting daily food trucks.
5min from…
KLC: Subway, Domino’s, Tony’s Pizza
my ES: Taco Bell, Long John Silver’s, Padrino’s
No shade to our cafeteria (🔥crispy chicken sandwich), but our options are pretty much pack your own or drive 5 mins, too
These new standards are not only alarming, they're also racist, factually-incorrect, + age-inappropriate- and were made without ANY public input. We made a 1-click action for y'all to email the Board of Education to reject @VA_Supt & Youngkin's standards: https://t.co/S3jgyWK4MW
Pretty neat that the KLC is getting different daily food trucks as lunch options (in addition to their cafeteria) while I’m lucky if I can shove a sandwich down my gullet in 20 minutes while doing work I couldn’t do in the weekly 80 minutes of meeting-free planning time.
Literally the opposite of equity. If anyone should be getting food options delivered to their doorstep it’s the people who have a smaller window to eat with greater consequence if we’re gone for too long. They can even eat at their desk after their break — we can’t.
Teaching is a lot like iPhone games that are advertised as “free” but actually require $10 monthly subscription fees to make the game anything better than a horribly unfun experience, but replace microtransactions with doing multiple hours of work outside contract hours.
It’s a perfectly crisp fall afternoon and teachers all around @PWCSNews are stuck inside preparing for conferences & finishing report cards because our normal end-of-Oct work day was taken away in a year when there are even more responsibilities & requirements than ever.
BREAKING NEWS:
The super majority Democratic PWCS School Board just passed an anti-union collective bargaining resolution AFTER educators shared concerns of:
1. Unfair election process
2. Limited scope for bargaining
3. Weaponizing strike language
Educators deserve better.
Why did no one stop me from watching yet another school board meeting where people who were never teachers make decisions that they aren’t qualified to make? Did I learn nothing from 2020?
Watching teachers pleading at school board meetings, fighting for common sense policies like it’s a summer 2020 @PWCSNews school board meeting about “”””concurrent”””” learning. Ahh, nostalgia.
