A 22-year-old student teacher in Illinois sent a private Snapchat message to her boyfriend and two roommates.

A student had walked up to her laptop and deleted her lesson plan mid-class. frustrated, she typed something like "should I shoot him" with a gun emoji. venting. four people. private group chat.

An hour later, police walked into her school and arrested her.

here's what happened in between.

Snapchat's AI scanned the private message. flagged it as a potential threat. automatically reported it to the FBI. the FBI forwarded it to local law enforcement. deputies arrived at the school within the hour.

she cooperated immediately. handed over her phone. when shown the message she said: "oh yes. okay. yeah. i'm realizing that was a bad joke. i did not mean it at all serious at all."

police determined she was not a threat. school officials determined she was not a threat. prosecutors reviewed and issued a disorderly conduct charge. she was released the next morning. she lost her student teaching placement.

This means:

Snapchat scans private messages.

Not just public posts or stories. private group chats between you and your closest contacts. automated AI. no human reviewed it first, got flagged and reported.

Snapchat AI → FBI → local police → school → arrest.

in under an hour.

Snapchat's privacy policy says it may share your information with law enforcement when it believes there is a risk of harm. the definition of "risk of harm" is determined by an algorithm.

you are not told when a message is flagged.
you are not told when a report is filed.
you find out when the police arrive.

the message was private.

it wasn't.

He publicly shared her personal details, purposely misrepresented her age, and exposed her to targeted harassment, putting her safety at risk.

Every opposition party MUST file an FIR in their respective states ensuring Sanjay spends rest of his life running from state to state and in between courts to courts.

Doxxing a minor is not "free speech." It's a serious act that can endanger a child's safety. Sanjay must face strict legal consequences.

అనగనగా ఒక డాక్టర్ గారు, ఆయన మా శ్రీమతికి పరిచయం. ఎంతో చదివేవారు రాత్రనక పగలనక పాపం. పొద్దున్న మరిచిపోయేవారు. పీజీ పరీక్షలు ఇంకో రెండు నెలల్లో ఉన్నాయి. ఇక ఫెయిలవుతానని ఆవిడతో వాపోయారు. సాధారణంగా మనకి అర్థం అయ్యేది మరిచిపోము, మీకెందుకిలా అవుతోంది అని ఆవిడ ఆశ్చర్యపడి, ఎందుకైనా మంచిది కేజీహెచ్ ఎదురుగా మా ఆయన ఒక దుకాణం (క్లినిక్) తెరిచి ఖాళీగా ఈగలు దోమలు తోలుకుంటూ ఇలాంటి కథలు రాస్తుంటాడు, వెళ్లి ఆయన్ని కలవమన్నారు.

అతను సర్లే వస్తే కొండ పోతే ఈక అని అన్నట్లు వార్డు వర్కు పూర్తయ్యాక సాయంకాలం నా దగ్గరికి వచ్చారు. డాక్టరుగారూ మేడమ్ పంపారట ఒక సార్ వచ్చారు అని మా రిసెప్షనిస్టు చెప్పింది. స్వాతి పుస్తకంలో ఎప్పట్నుంచో ఒక కథ రాద్దామని ఆలోచిస్తున్న నేను మా మేడమ్ పేరు వినగానే అలెర్ట్ అయిపోయి, పంపించమన్నాను.

డాక్టర్ గారు చెప్పింది మొత్తం విన్నాను. విషయం ఏమిటంటే ఆయన ఏ పని చేస్తున్నా ఏదో ఒక పనికిమాలిన ఆలోచన బుర్రలో దూరుతుంది. అది ఉదా, చంద్రబాబు విశాఖపట్నం వస్తారా? సచిన్ మళ్లీ ఆడితే ఎలా ఉంటుంది? ఇలాంటివన్నమాట. అవి ఆలోచనలు ఒక గొలుసుకట్టుగా గ్యాప్ లేకుండా గమ్యం లేకుండా అలా వస్తూనే ఉంటాయి. పాపం పుస్తకం ముందే ఉంటుంది, ఏకాగ్రత ఎక్కడో ఉంటుంది. దాంతో ఆయన చదవలేకపోయేవాళ్ళు. ఎన్నో ప్రయత్నాలు చేశారు ఆయన తన మనసు మళ్లించడానికి. పరీక్షలు దగ్గరపడే కొద్దీ, ఆయన ఆ ఆలోచనలను అడ్డుకునేకొద్దీ అవి తీవ్రం కావడం మొదలయ్యాయి.

మొత్తం విన్నాక ఇది ఓసీడీ అండి అని చెప్పాను. అదేంటి సార్ ఓసీడీ అంటే చేతులు మళ్లీ మళ్లీ కడుక్కోవడం, సర్దినదే మళ్లీ సర్దటం ఇలాంటివి కదా, నాకవేమీ లేవే అని అడిగారు. అవునండీ కానీ మీకు ఉన్నది ప్యూర్లీ అబ్సెషనల్ టైపు. ఇది కూడా ఓసీడీ నే అని చెప్పి కౌన్సిలింగ్ చేసి, మందులు రాసిచ్చాను. నెల రోజుల్లో కొన్ని ఏళ్ళ నుంచీ ఉన్న ఆలోచనలు తొంభై శాతం తగ్గిపోయాయి. చక్కగా పరీక్షలు రాసి పాసయ్యారు.

తర్వాత ఆయన ధన్యవాదాలు చెప్తూ, నాకు ఎంబీబీఎస్ మొదటి ఏడాది నుంచీ ఈ సమస్య ఉంది, నేను అప్పుడే మీలాంటి వాళ్ళని కలిసి ఉంటే నాకు ఇన్నేళ్ల బాధ తప్పి ఉండేది. పీజీ ఎంట్రన్సులో కూడా మంచి ర్యాంకు వచ్చుండేది అని బాధ పడ్డారు.

కాబట్టి చెప్పొచ్చే విషయం ఏమిటంటే ఎక్కువమంది మానసిక రుగ్మతలతో ఉంటూ ఇది రుగ్మత కాదు అనుకుని లేదా నేనింతే అనుకుని లేదా ఈ సమస్యకి చికిత్స లేదనుకుని అలా జీవితం వెళ్లదీస్తారు. కానీ ఈలోగా వాళ్ళ పొటెన్షియల్ పడిపోయి జీవితంలో చేరదగిన స్థాయికి చేరకపోవడం, వాళ్ళ బంధాల్లో ఉండాల్సిన సంతృప్తి ఉండకపోవడం వెరసి సగం సగం జీవితం గడుపుతూ ఉంటారు.

ఆయన దగ్గర ఫీజు తీసుకోలేదు. కానీ ఆ మొత్తం వైద్యం నా ఫీజు, మందులతో సహా కలిపి ఐదొందల రూపాయలు అవుతుంది. కాబట్టి మనకి ఉండే బాధకి దానికయ్యే ఖర్చుకి పొంతనే ఉండదు. ఇక మీ ఇష్టం.
