Great milestone for the #HiPowAR team! We met in Hermsdorf to visit Fraunhofer IKTS, where the reactor from our partner Maston Group is now being installed. After overcoming several challenges, we’re proud to see the setup finally taking shape! 🚀
300 membranes completed by Fraunhofer IKTS for our new reactor! That’s 130 meters—longer than a football field! 🏟️ Thanks to Maston AB’s design, we can now easily swap inserts to test different geometries.

NH3 is a cost-effective liquid hydrogen carrier for long-term storage and sea transport and possesses a higher energy density compared to liquid hydrogen. This advantage means ammonia transport requires less cost and storage space, making it a preferred choice in global trade.
🌿 LCA – The Key to Sustainable Innovation
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) measures the environmental impact of new technologies—from raw materials to disposal. In @HiPowAR, it helps identify risks early & make sustainable decisions. This way, we shape innovation responsibly! 🌍

The name 'ammonia' comes from the Egyptian deity Amun. Ancient Egyptians first distilled ammonia from camel dung near the Temple of Amun in Libya, naming it after the god. Ammonia was used for cleaning, preservation, rituals, and agriculture.

Each year, 180M tons of ammonia are produced. Loaded into 55-ton tank wagons (17.6m each), the resulting freight train would stretch nearly 60,000 km—longer than the Earth's circumference!
Yesterday, all HiPowAR partners met in Sweden to visit our partner Maston! We discussed work progress, next steps, and Maston's vital role in WP2: developing key components for the advanced membrane reactor. Thank you, Maston, for hosting and the insightful tour! 🚀
🔬 What is a perovskite structure?
It’s a crystalline arrangement of atoms (ABX₃) with cations 'A' and 'B' (blue/green) and anions 'X' (red). This unique pattern enables versatile properties, driving innovations in technology. 🌟

NH3, a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen, is gaining increasing attention in the energy industry and other sectors as a clean fuel. Its utilization doesn't emit climate-damaging CO2, making it a key candidate for the next generation of carbon-free renewable energy storage.
We were part of the @sdewes_centre 2024 in Rome!
Florian Kuschel presented HiPowAR with his presentation "Analysis of Dynamic Energy Conversion Systems in the Conceptual System Design Phase" dealt with the techno-economic-ecological analysis of novel energy systems.
Project meeting at Fraunhofer IKTS of some members of the HiPowAR team discussing the final reactor concept and timeline until implementation of the containerised reactor module in spring 2025. Exciting development of a novel technology for ammonia combustion by total oxidation🚀
We’re thrilled to welcome Maston Group to our team!🚀Their expertise in renewable energy and innovation will be key as we gear up for the construction of our advanced membrane reactor. With Maston on board we’re ready to push forward towards a sustainable, carbon-free future!🌍💡
