So saddened to hear of the passing of Wilbur "Bay" Darnell at 91. Affectuantly known as "The Great Pumpkin" for his look & familiar red/orange cars, the Deerfield, IL driver was a mainstay on stock car tracks from 1954 until he quit driving in 1983. He won 4 USAC Stock Car races

On February 18th, 1990, that year's #DAYTONA500    was memorable for many reasons. They filmed scenes for Days there, Dale Sr. dominated, but in the end, @DCopeRacing went by for his first #NASCAR75    victory! #SCTTVOTD

On a Feb. 19th 1956 #SCTTVOTD the #USACStockCar Series was born! Chuck Stevenson won the 100L race. It took place at Saugus north of Los Angeles. However the series ended in '84. It was also used for parts of Dukes of Hazzard w/ Cale Yarborough & the 3rd ever @NASCAR_Trucks race!

As a local photog was at Toledo in '08, waiting for #ARCA practice to end so cars can cross the track back to the teams. Was focusing on @StenhouseJr with the net up but he put his finger out the window to say "1 minute", dropped the net & I got better shots. I thought "nice kid"

Daytona's using the #Brandt200 hashtag showing who's backing the ARCA race. But here ARCA is using "#Menards200" on all their social media. These hashtags give me a bit of an uneasy feeling cuz NASCAR owns ARCA & Daytona. Is there really gonna be a public issue of naming rights?
