They made it! Levi and Joey, 2nd year students, found back the Higgs boson in the open 13 TeV @ATLASexperiment data! One week of hard work, optimizing selections and estimating significances with Poisson statistics. Well done guys! Happy faces in the final meeting. @HiggsCatcher

We created an image with data + MC files + Root enviro&intro script + analysis code skeleton in python. The analysis script ran using Jupyter notebook ie. can be directly edited/ran from a browser

2021 teaching, here we go! For our research practicum for 2nd year students we use open data from @ATLASexperiment, based on work by @claranellist and ATLAS outreach team. And thanks to @rabalasu and @HiggsCatcher we have a great computing set-up! Ash is giving her intro talk now

Starting with the Atlas open data challenge, an alternative for Corona-cancelled 2nd year practical courses at @UvA_Amsterdam. Thanks @claranellist for the tip and @HiggsCatcher & @_rahulino for computing set-up. Lots to learn probably, but we're off: top quark and Higgs hunting!
