Competition this weekend? Decide on one thing before you load the car: no coaching from the stands, no playing-time talk at the venue, and no re-litigating the game in the parking lot. Just watch your athlete and enjoy them. They can feel the difference , and so can every college coach in the stands watching how you carry it.
Really enjoyed our conversation with @CPBLeague Canadian Premier GM, Jamie Romak.
Lots of great insight into his decorated career as a pro, but more importantly the inner workings behind the Canadian Premier brand and why it was established.

Forty years in this game. Here is what I have learned about the families who navigate it best.
They are not the ones with the biggest budgets. They are not the ones with the most connections. They are the ones who decided early that this is a forty-year decision, and started behaving accordingly.
They turn down the showcase that does not fit the plan. They pass on the travel team that promises exposure for a price. They put their son in front of honest evaluators instead of marketing departments.
They are not chasing baseball. They are building a man who happens to play it.
The trophy is the relationship you have with your son when he is thirty.
I'm not at my best in heavy traffic.
Actually, I'm not at my best while waiting for anything.
But here's the one that stung.
We were at the Key Royale Club for Bingo. Someone called a premature number. Maddie was watching. And I muttered something under my breath that wasn't exactly Sunday morning material.
Maddie yelled out, "What the hell, lady?" because she had just heard her dad mutter it.
In that moment, Karla didn't yell at me. She didn't lecture.
She grabbed me by the ear, looked at me with those captivating brown eyes, and said five words: "Model the behavior you hope to instill in others."
That line hit me like a fastball at my ears.
All those years as a manager.
All those talks about character, discipline, how to handle adversity. How to represent yourself with respect. How to stay composed when things go wrong. And my daughter was watching me lose it over Bingo.
I wasn't modeling anything except frustration.
I was teaching her that the rules change when nobody important is watching. That your values are situational.
Here's what this taught me: Your kids won't always listen to what you say, but they're always watching what you do.
Model the behavior. Every time. Because someone who loves you is watching.

First weekend of the year, and first couple hits of the season including a triple and single. The boys are just getting going @HighHeat82@EvanGrills@tjburton22
Baseball families, do not make a permanent decision from a temporary headline.
If athletes eventually get 5 full years from the earlier of turning 19 or graduating high school, the ripple effect could touch:
Redshirting
Post-grad years
Reclass decisions
JUCO paths
Roster spots
Transfer timing
Prep school decisions
High-academic recruiting
But the message is still the same:
Do not panic.
Do not guess.
Build the athlete.
Build the transcript.
Understand the rules.
Find the right fit.
I am beyond grateful to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Ohlone College. I’d like to thank all my coaches that have helped me, but above all, Coach Curran, Coach Rob Bruno, TJ, ONC Baseball, and Pro5 Nashville. Above all I’d like to thank my family for their continuous support. Go Renegades!
