Persia was smashed over and over again, but it is a testimony to its culture that it survived to this day, traceable to the distant past. Persia is like China in that way. Leaders come and go but the way of life remains.

Heroin/Opium hasn't destroyed civilization, despite the damage, so neither will A.I. - but civilization will become unrecognizable.

@kth1415 @ArmstrongEcon Yes, mass extermination and brain drain. The Mesopotamian and Persian cultures were amazingly resilient to survive that. If people want to say the Persian culture survived conquest, I would agree with that.
