@SwiftIngenuity Aranea shrugged in return.

"Any idea who the employer was?

I might be able to round you up a few details, I've got a few connections."

She is a merc too, after all.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

It's true, Fang of all people would know about survival.

"But enough about me."

Aranea smiled cross the table.

"What's been up with you?"

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

“To survive in a world like this, certainly.” The wild huntress understood well the way the world works.

“Sure! Works for me.” She agreed on their starting round with the cheeriest tone she could muster.

They called over the bartender to get their drinks & waited to be served.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

A shrug. "Gotta do whatcha gotta do."

She chuckled, sitting across from Fang in the booth.

"Round of beers to start?"

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

“You really are somethin' else.” A light snicker escaped past her lips.

Honestly? Fang had high reverence for how Aranea would handle things & her principles.

Upon their arrival, they were both seated in a comfortable booth. “What are you in the mood for? Hm?”

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

"Ah, yeah, booting my superiors.

I have morals, y'know."

The pale female chuckled again.

"Side gigs don't always pay the bills."

And they're off! To the nearest tavern.

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

“You should've just given him the boot.” Shaking her head in disapproval of the whole situation, hse later shrugs her shoulders, unable to do much about what's been already done.

She somewhat admired her friend, still.

“It would be a pleasure.” The brunette took her offer, ofc.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

"No kidding. You'd think, after a while, he'd find someone else to order around."

A gentle shrug.

"But hey, what can ya do? The money's good enough I can grin and bear it for a few hours."

Extending her hand, she offered it to Fang.

"Shall we?"

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

“That old fox is up your ass? Sheesh.” She shook her head in disappointment.

“I'm glad you finally escaped his clutches. Even if for a lil while.”

The tanned woman perked up whence hearing her suggestion. “I'll definitely take you up on that, darling. Sounds like fun.”

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

"Pfff."

The female scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"Ravus has been on my ass about the princeling and his pals for the last who-knows-how-long.
It's nice to see your mug around instead of his.

Say, how 'bout we go for a drink? Got some catching up to do, I reckon."

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

“Gimme a break.” She laughs nervously.

“Havin' dreams is normal. Not like I was in control or it were a lucid dream or anything.” More nervous chuckling.
Look at the great huntress unable to hide her tracks well right now.
“You've been gone for too long. Was wonderin about ya.”

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Aranea chuckled softly at the poke.

"'This time'?

You sayin' you've been dreaming about me?"

Cue a smirk.

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

Indeed, it was.

“Aranea!”

Shoots the fellow badass an inviting warm smile. She inches closer to give another poke at her, just to make sure she wasn't dreaming of her this time.

“Seems like you're not a dream, this time. Phew.” Fang lets out a sigh of relief.

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

“I never run from a challenge.”

Quirks a brow.

Could it be?

Her dragoon sister?

[FᎪNᏩ @SwiftIngenuity]

Pokes.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Only a bit.

Kicks up her feet in her desk.

She isn't dispatched for another few hours.

She sounds bored.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

@TheGodlyComplex "I can't quite place it, really.
But somethin' just seems to resonate, y'know?"

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Y'know, there's something about this place that seems oddly familiar.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Groans.

She was tasked with training some newbies and goddamn.

Would rather die.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Loqi can handle everything she had to do.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

If Ravus doesn't lose the beard as promised, she's taking the next week off.

With pay.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Loqi, bring the clippers.

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Tick tock

If Ravus still has that /fuckin/ beard, so help me...

[𝒜𝓇𝒶𝓃𝑒𝒶 𝐻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓌𝒾𝓃𝒹 @HighwindsGale]

Mhm, whatever you say.
