@RationalColonel I have been getting a lot of use out of your resources on Russia. Did you complete the upcoming ones on the Five year Plan and the terror? They would be massively helpful.

@RogersHistory I moved and it was a huge culture shock- poor behaviour, broken up lessons with funny lunchtimes, more stringent SLT involvement in lessons but I adapted, stayed 5 years and it’s the work I am most proud to have done and some of my happiest safest teaching years.

Simple but effective! I used sorting cards to get students to create their own categories to ‘solve’ the question. This generated structured discussion and high lighted the nuances in historical enquiries. I’ve been reading a lot of @Counsell_C’s work on extended writing…🫣

There are a few things that I like consistency in when planning/resourcing lessons; one of them is the icons I use to indicate activity types.
I like students to know that there is a reason behind the activity - it's not just for the sake of it.

@EG_Carr absolutely brilliant session yesterday @histassoc on assessment. So many ideas that maintain the integrity of the discipline, are time efficient and help students progress. Will definitely be using the ideas with my ECT coachees. Thank you!

The new improving writing in History 'working wall' is finally up. Still need to sort out bits of alignment etc and I am sure panels will be taken out, updated and slotted back in as we start to build resources around the working wall. BUT it's ready to go!

@jcarrollhistory really interesting session on the use of metaphor. Has to be relatable, carefully chosen, apt and used judiciously. Thank goodness as I love a good history metaphor. #haconf2024

Thank you @CatPriggs and Geraint for a great session. Lots to think about and really helpful for the curriculum planning I am currently doing with my ECTs as their coach. Agreed it could have been 2 sessions.

@LauraLolder I was Head of Yr11 and we did all of the above and for those that opted in- as you say most of them did - it made a huge difference. It was also important to recognise that some students are self starters and didn’t opt in as they had in all covered which was also praised.
