OK, trolls won't listen, but this 👇 is NOT a gotcha... Haters post this, like, 20+ times a day.
It is a grant to research health misinformation from (the independent) @CIHR_IRSC & the result of an open & independent (v competitive) peer review process.
I didn't get a dime. Funds were held & administered by university, used to support research, students, etc. (This grant was shared with collaborators at @UCalgary & @UofRegina.)
Professors are paid a salary. Doing research & applying for grants is part of the job. The gov does NOT dictate the outcome or messaging associated with this work. Academic freedom.
If you see someone post or lecture about this kind of article as a "gotcha" hit, know that it is actually a sign the troll doesn't understand research process (or they are lying)...
There ARE problems with research funding process (inefficient, biased, random, etc). Indeed, a topic I've researched and a focus of a forthcoming book.
But I have NEVER been paid (by gov, industry, etc) to spread a particular message. We seek to use evidence-informed strategies to provide constructive evidence-informed content.
Remember, one of the goals of #misinformation mongers is to create distrust & division... Don't let them win. 🙏
@DavidColetto@acoyne@PierrePoilievre@abacusdataca@TorontoStar Who were your Canadians, other than adults? Did you call landlines? Did you speak to people from rural and urban regions? Unemployed people? Professionals? Did you speak to representatives from several different races? Women? Men? Non-binary? LGBTQ2SI+?
