Without ever holding elected office, Eleanor Roosevelt redefined the role of first lady from gracious helpmate to public advocate, spending half of each year crossing the country to see the Depression firsthand and bringing what she learned back to the White House.
In a new essay, Hillary Rodham Clinton reflects on Roosevelt—one of her heroes—and the discipline of showing up for the hardest problems confronting the nation and the world.

Who Decides is launching to answer the question at the center of a critical issue of our time: Who gets to decide how AI changes American life?
Right now, a few executives inside a handful of companies are making all the decisions as AI reshapes entire industries, education, communities, and safety, and as the most powerful models grow beyond our ability to control them.
Our goal is that by 2028, Democratic candidates from the top of the ticket on down run with a common AI safety agenda.

Americans' right to vote is sacred. No president or institution can take it away, and it's good news that the Supreme Court has affirmed that fact.

Just this morning, the New York Times reported that China's spy chief wants his government to have more oversight of the AI industry.
As I said on Friday on @MSNOWNews: the Trump administration has a huge opportunity to enlist China in the effort to rein in AI when President Xi visits in two weeks. They should take it.

Hillary Clinton: "We have to look at our potential dangers, especially what Xi is thinking. 'They they can't defend anybody anymore because they don't have the capacity to defend. Maybe we can coerce Taiwan into just giving up because there's not going to be any support.' If you look at the world map right now, it is not favorable to the US. And in large measure, I would argue that's because of very wrongheaded decisions that are being made by this administration."
None of us who lived through 9/11 will ever forget the lives lost or the countless stories of heroism from the day. But a third of today's Americans are too young to have any memory of it.
For them, the @Sept11Memorial is making a new digital learning experience available starting tomorrow.
A free 35-minute film will feature the personal stories of survivors, family members, and first responders. Viewing guides and pre-program activities will be available for grades 3 through 12.
We said we'd never forget—and part of that charge is making sure the next generation also remembers.Find the offerings at https://t.co/xbNIXho7cP.
In my decades of public service, I have rarely been as angry as I was the day the damning inspector general’s report was released about the EPA's response to the World Trade Center collapse.
One of the most important lessons from 9/11 is that our leaders need to level with people and then follow through with actual results.

Every instance of child marriage forecloses a world of possibilities for a young girl—and every year, 12 million girls are married before their 18th birthdays. These girls are robbed of the opportunity to grow up safe and healthy and to pursue an education. In turn, the world loses their participation, their talents, and their ideas.
I am so grateful to @FirstLadyBio for her work to champion today's adopted U.N. resolution to establish an International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage. As First Lady of Sierra Leone, she has led her country to push for change alongside Cape Verde, Costa Rica, and Morocco.
Child marriage remains one of the most urgent, preventable violations of girls’ rights. Today's resolution is an important step in the fight to recognize the right of girls and young women to freely and boldly decide their own futures.
We need even more resources and more political will to tackle this scourge. Everyone who sees this message can become a part of ending child marriage.
A great place to start is by reading @ColumbiaIGP’s report on Accelerating Efforts to End Child Marriage, which I was proud to collaborate on with Dr. Maada Bio and @sherylsandberg earlier this year. Find it here: https://t.co/XTR45y8DGi
