Hey everyone - I’ve really enjoyed using this platform in the old days to live tweet conferences and connect with fellow museum and education professionals. I’m no longer active on here, but I’d love to stay in touch on 🦋 where my handle is hillaryhanelrose.
@the_museumfolk I had that exact situation recently. It was an absolute dream job. But I was relieved when I wasn’t offered the position because it just wouldn’t have been the right fit for my current stage of life. I was still bummed because it would have been such a fun role.
@the_museumfolk This reminds me of the time I was hired to be an assistant in a museum and on my first day it turned out they had fired/demoted people so I was doing 2.5 jobs at the pay rate I agree on to be an assistant. (They fired the person I was meant to assist, so I even took on that role)
The annoying thing about LinkedIn is that I can see that someone with the title “CEO /Executive Director” has viewed my profile multiple times a week for the past couple of months. Sometimes multiple times a day.
Hello? Can I help you? Who are you?
Today while teaching high school archaeology, my slides declared at Julius Caesar used to send “massages” to his generals written in code. My students were all pleased to learn that the generals were all pampered and relaxed 🤪
I wish I was at #NCPH2023 - I keep hearing about so many great sessions. I’m part of a working group that is presenting tomorrow morning on the topic of American Girl in the public humanities and I’m so bummed to miss it!
Another library appreciation post! My 2-year-old is getting a little cabin fever so we enjoyed some tiny yoga and dance programs at our library today. Baby sister (7 weeks old) enjoyed watching. We’ll definitely visit the library more while I’m still on maternity leave!
I was prescribed a face wash for cystic acne and it was going to be over $600 😬 Good RX brought it down to $30ish. (Also, the face wash smelled like fire.)
yesterday i went to pick up a prescription at walgreens and they said it’d be $130 *with* insurance, so i pulled up a coupon from GoodRx and paid…$6.50.
why is that extra step necessary? if i’m insured, why do you i need a random-ass website to get involved? wtf is this system
I have 5 weeks left of my maternity leave. I wish for those 5 weeks I could create 3 clones of myself: one to clean and organize my house, one to catch up on sleep, one to do some professional projects, and my real self to soak up newborn snuggles and play with my toddler.
Sometimes college seems like it was just yesterday. Until I find my old checkbook with evidence of all the checks I wrote to my roommate for my portion of the electric bill. Real paper checks. Venmo wasn’t a thing yet.
In honor of the new 1999-themed AG dolls, here I am at American Girl Place in 1999!
I’m working on some research about AG in K-12 education. If you are a #teacher who has used AG in your teaching, or if it inspired your love of history, I’d love to hear from you! #americangirl
Girl Museum is looking for #queer folks interested in participating in an #interview series collecting the stories and experiences of queer people who have, in any capacity, experienced #girlhood.

We lost our Sasha dog yesterday. She was the best girl. Thankful for the 13 years she had, and the 10 years I got to be a part of. But it hurts so much knowing she won’t be with us in the new year.
I met my reading goal! This accomplishment was once again made possible by free audiobooks through the Libby and Hoopla apps from my library. I enjoyed tracking my reading through Goodreads and StoryGraph.
Let me know what books you recommend I add to my 2023 reading!
