@amoss_moss1 This is so true! It is extremely disappointing that patients have to decide between these medications that oftentimes are ALL medically necessary, putting their health at risk. Because of what? Because Canada's universal healthcare doesn't universally cover healthcare? #PHARM4420
@noahpharris Noah, I completely agree! I think if healthcare funding included the cost of medications, the costs associated with hospitalization in the long-term could be greatly reduced! #PHARM4420
Is healthcare in Canada really universal? With patients paying for many medications and dental services, this care has been deemed medically unnecessary. Something has to change before lack of financial access to these services becomes "medically necessary" real fast. #PHARM4420
@Kyle_Fraser13 All of these factors are concerning! Why should patients in NL have to take a fall because of the struggling system? I think we need pharmacist-led clinics ASAP to help alleviate some of the burden surrounding minor ailments, and provide timely access and quality care. #Pharm4420
@MtimmonsTimmons I 100% agree, Madison! I think that government support and funding will be a key component for success in implementation of these clinics in NL! #Pharm4420
@amwatkins25 I agree, Alyssa. I love to see this! Wouldn't it be great to have expanded services such as uncomplicated UTI prescribing, and contraception management? #PHARM4420
Exciting times in NS! Hopefully in the near future we will see similar clinics in NL. I would like to see an expansion of scope to include assessment and treatment for uncomplicated UTI's and contraception management here as well. Big win in NS! #Pharm4420

In rural NL, access to a GP often requires travel or is limited. For an aging population, this can be unachievable and unsafe. A pharmacist-led clinic, and PWIC+ models as seen in NS can allow timely access to care, and optimize acute and chronic condition management #Pharm4420
