Y2 have been learning about The Blitz as their local history topic this half term. We had a History Day this week and dressed as evacuees. We wrote postcards from the countryside, compared ration shopping lists and also learned about air raids and Anderson shelters!
A team of 12 of Hillbrook's top Times Tables Rockers are preparing for a half-term battle against the All-Stars from St Matthews Bloxham School in Rugby! We wish them luck - let's bring home the crown!
Last week, Y4 went to an interactive poetry performance by Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho, who grew up in Wandsworth! We celebrated his new book ‘Poetry Prompts’ which shares a life’s work of tips, tricks and guides on STARTING to write, perform and enjoy poetry.
Our staff had a wonderful time at the poetry session run by @JosephACoelho on Monday! We learned some great tips for getting children excited about writing poetry and can't wait to put them into practice in the classroom!
In science, Y3 have been learning about light. We have tested which materials are more reflective than others and we’ve been thinking about how images appear back-to-front when reflected in a mirror!
Last week, Y4 had the opportunity to go to @CoopParadise to participate in some outdoor activities which are good for our wellbeing. We loved going on a nature hunt, observing bugs up close, toasting marshmallows over a fire and building miniature shelters for creepy crawlies!
Here's Year 6 having a fabulous last week in school... Enjoying the French cafe, competing against teachers in a football match and celebrating their last day with a BBQ on the field!
Wishing them, and all of our community, a restful summer.
See you in September! ☀️
Year 6 did a fantastic job performing their production of Porridge to parents and pupils. We are so proud of the talented singers, dancers and actors we have at Hillbrook 🎭👏
Year 3 enjoyed a Science trip to Tooting Common to test our paper aeroplanes. We had a great time observing air resistance and waiting for the biggest gust of wind to see which of our two designs would go the furthest!
Year 6 have now received their leavers' hoodies and are loving wearing them to school. Thank you to our PTFA for their kind donation towards them!

We loved taking part in the #CLiPPA shadowing scheme, learning and exploring poems from a range of collections. Watch our very own winning entry from Y5. Now she'll get the chance to perform the poem at the National Theatre, alongside other winners and famous poets! 👏🏆

In Early Years last week, the children read My Name is Not a Refugee by @ABagForKatie and then wrote a postcard about how they would help Refugees. On Friday, all the classes wore their own clothes to raise money to support local charity @CARAS_LDN
Stitch club pupils have learnt several new stitches and designed cat faced lavender bags! They've made drawstring bags, keyrings, noughts and crosses games and are working hard on their lavender bags! Great progress has been made with stitch neatness and embroidery skills!
