This week in Reception we started to tell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. As part of our Understanding the World strand we planted some beans in soil and we will be keeping a ‘Bean Diary’ to record how they grow.
We have been making a magical forest. We will be adding to as the weeks go on. So far we have a Valentine’s themed tree, a button tree and a patterned tree.
Wellbeing week was a huge hit with our Reception children last week. We wore our own clothes to express ourselves on Friday and completed a survey to find out new things about each other.
Recently we have been finding out all about Chinese New Year. Our dragon has been busy dancing around our classrooms while the children play drums and bells.
We have been putting our scientific skills to the test. As it’s winter we have been predicting what will happen when we put ice in a bowl and water in the freezer. We have also completed some fabulous writing describing what ice looks and feels like.
We have explored what a pattern is today in Maths. We identified different patterns around the room and used words like, ‘stripy and spotty’ to describe them.
We have been exploring ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ in our Maths learning today! We grouped different objects and decided which group had more and which had fewer.
