Nolo has officially strengthened into a hurricane as it inches toward Hawaii Island.

As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Hurricane Nolo had maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour. Hurricane force winds extend up to 30 miles from the center, while tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles.
