Tonight I stopped by the Victoria Park Cenotaph and #ldnont City Hall to thank the Cadets that took shifts and stood on guard.

Today the Grade 5/6’s learned about Treaty #6, the London Township Treaty of 1796. This treaty is where our school community is situated on. It is important for all of us to know about and honour the treaties that can be found throughout Canada. @tmdenomme@downiewenjack@LDCSB
Many thanks to @RayJohn58968026 for teaching us about wampum belts this morning. Students were very interested in learning about the history and significance of wampum. After, we used Lego bricks to make ‘The Dish with One Spoon’ wampum belt. @tmdenomme @saintmarklondon @LDCSB
This week is Treaties Recognition Week in Ontario, but what is the significance of this week and how does it further reconciliation? We break it all down for you! #TreatiesRecognitionWeek#DoSomething

We found out that walking 600 kilometres would be the distance between London and Cornwall. Chanie was incredibly brave for attempting this journey to be reunited with his family. May we always honour his life and legacy in promoting truth and reconciliation. @downiewenjack
We are honoured to be a @downiewenjack Legacy School. Today we each walked two kilometres, collectively walking over 600 km to help get Chanie home. @tmdenomme@LDCSB#dosomething
This week we have been extending our learning involving the municipal government by researching our @CityofLdnOnt government and the upcoming elections. Students are also learning the importance of being an active citizen and the democratic process. Voting is important! @LDCSB
Today the Grade 5/6’s made connections between our novel study, Fatty Legs and Secret Path. May our learning inspire us to continue to #dosomething to promote truth and reconciliation @downiewenjack@tmdenomme#secretpathweek
Gord asked all people in Canada to look at the state of Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations in this country and to “Do Something” to change them for the better. Secret Path Week is a national movement that commemorates the legacies of Gord and Chanie. https://t.co/Tv9n6pJ7vr
We loved learning and painting today with Moses Lunham from Kettle and Stoney Point First Nation. Students learned about #OrangeShirtDay2022 and created something beautiful to share the message of Truth and Reconciliation with other. @saintmarklondon @tmdenomme
