We've temporarily limited the serving of YTT/SRV3 uploaded captions files, as they were causing video playback issues for some viewers. These changes should be temporary for almost all videos, and our teams are looking into this right now. You can follow along here: https://t.co/Yxx4ZXztC9

In any case, it's great to see even a creator of your caliber using styled subs. Let's hope YT can fix this soon.

@dreamwastaken And in May 2020, they introduced a display bug that made most existing styled subtitles either flicker horribly or disappear. Despite the community spamming YT's support channels, they never fixed it.

@Dexerto Thank you for bringing attention to this - I'm the one who posted the Reddit thread. I'd just like to clarify that I'm not affiliated with hololive, and when I wrote "we" spotted missing subtitles, I meant that as "other hololive fans and I."

@TeamYouTube A few days ago, YouTube disabled uploading of SRV3 subtitle files. This is not a glitch or user error - it has been confirmed by many different translators.

Now, I've seen reports of *existing* SRV3 subtitles being removed from videos.

These subtitles span videos going back *years* and represent paid work by professional translators in multiple languages. I imagine the company will not be amused if YouTube suddenly deletes all of that, especially since it gave no reason or warning.

@Iagodsc1 @TeamYouTube @Loserbait Sadly, no. The format is still the same (I checked by downloading existing subtitles from a video). YT has broken/disabled SRV3 upload, and I doubt we can do anything about it.

@TeamYouTube @Loserbait A change on YT's end broke uploading of these SRV3 files: they're now parsed as plain text without styling or timing. Please revert this change. Having to fall back to the supported formats would be a sad loss in functionality and subtitle beauty that we've enjoyed for years.

@TeamYouTube @Loserbait The videos linked by @Loserbait are just a few examples. *All* translated hololive videos use it. Do also check out the Japanese subtitles of the MVs, which use karaoke effects and ruby text - especially the latter is simply not possible with the officially supported formats.
