That officer didn’t see Adam. He saw a Mexican. He felt threatened by the “no good Mexican thug”. He felt threatened by unarmed, scared, 13 year old Adam Toledo.

It’s not the “complying” or “resisting” that is an issue, it’s the RACISM!! A boy who could not have weighed more then 130 pound nor measure more than 5’4 was murdered by a grown man old enough to be his father.

Now I know a lot of people may say that people are getting shot for not complying, and I understand that even in unfair situations it’s the smartest thing to do, but what happens when you comply and they are still afraid of you?

13 years old, in the seventh grade, stopped running from police, complied, had his hands up, shot and killed. Mexican.

-17 years old, armed with an AR-15, was never asked to comply, killed two people, praised by law enforcement, and white.

Discrimination towards and within the Latino community has been so overlooked and normalized…. which should not be the case.
