The Leicester Branch of the Historical Association is delighted to announce its programme of events for the 2025/26 academic year. This year's programme will be held in collaboration with the Northampton Branch.

A reminder that the Leicester Branch's first free talk of the year will take place online at 6pm on Tuesday 9th September. Andy Chapman, the Hon. Secretary of the Northamptonshire Archaeological Society, will be speaking about Excavations at St James’s Abbey in Northampton.
Andy's talk will not only cover the challenges of excavating a post-industrial site, but also what the examination of burial remains from the Abbey's cemetery can tell us of the health and demography of Northampton's late medieval population.
On Tuesday 12 May 2026 at 6pm Gillian Williamson will discuss the life of John London, a Black Georgian businessman.

On Tuesday 10 February 2026 at 6pm Professor Mark Rothery from the University of Northampton and Dr Alison Carrol from Brunel University will discuss the visions of a channel tunnel between England and France during the late nineteenth century.
On Tuesday 18 November 2025 at 6pm Bill Lindsay will be discussing the life of Caroline Chisholm, a Victorian humanitarian from Northampton.
